UK pay-television broadcaster BT Sport has announced a multi-year expansion of its partnership with North American basketball league the NBA.
Effective from the 2015-16 NBA season, BT Sport will broadcast up to seven live games per week throughout the regular season and the first and second rounds of the playoffs.
Every game of the conference finals and NBA Finals in June will also be available across the broadcaster’s BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2 and ESPN channels in the UK and Ireland.
Major NBA events such as the NBA All-Star, Christmas Day and Martin Luther King Day games will also be covered exclusively by BT Sport, while the channel will include a weekly free streamed game via its official website and app alongside NBA platforms.
Additionally, BT Sport and the NBA will cooperate on the production of games in 4K. Today’s (Thursday) NBA Global Games London 2015 game between Milwaukee Bucks and New York Knicks at London’s O2 Arena will be the first ever NBA contest captured in ultra high-definition.
