Pan-African pay-television operator StarTimes has agreed a two-year deal for the rights to the German Bundesliga football competition and will launch a new premium sports channel to exploit the content, according to Rwandan newspaper the New Times.
The Bundesliga rights cover the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons of the top division of German football, with the new channel set to launch in May.
The New Times said the new channel will also provide sports content including cricket, NBA basketball, athletics and rugby union.
StarTimes brand and marketing director Hussein Kamanzi said: “We’re launching a new sports premium at end of this season. The channel is going to be broadcasting all the Bundesliga games with whom we have signed exclusively for two years.”
