Mediapro strikes linear TV deals for crucial USA-Canada clash

The Mediapro agency and production group has secured deals to enable next week’s crucial United States-Canada Concacaf Nations League match to be aired free of charge on linear television in Canada.

Mediapro, which is the exclusive owner of Concacaf Nations League rights in Canada, has agreed rights deals that will ensure the match is made available nationwide and free of charge to Bell, Rogers and Telus subscribers. The game will also be broadcast on OneSoccer, Mediapro’s OTT subscription service.

A win or draw in the November 15 match at Orlando’s Exploria Stadium would guarantee Canada a place in the Concacaf Nations League Finals in June 2020, and bolster a top-six Concacaf ranking, as determined by the Fifa world rankings, to secure a spot in the Concacaf Hex, the final stage of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup.

The Mediapro agency tightened its grip on Canadian soccer in August by securing the rights to the Concacaf Nations League, including Canada’s matches in the new international tournament featuring sides from North and Central America and the Caribbean.
