UK commercial broadcaster Channel 4 has confirmed that its channels dedicated to covering the London 2012 Paralympic Games will be carried by pay-television broadcaster BSkyB.
The channels, which will be available in both standard and high definition on Sky and also free to view on the Channel 4 website, are also expected to be available on UK pay-television operator Virgin Media, the commercial broadcaster said.
The six new free-to-air channels – three in standard definition plus the same channels in high definition – will be added to the Sports section of Sky’s Electronic Programme Guide from August 29, the day of the Games’ opening ceremony.
Channel 4 will show 150 hours of action from the Paralympics over the 12 days of competition.
Before the Paralympics, which will run until September 9, Sky will carry the BBC’s 24 live internet streaming channels covering the Olympic Games, from July 27 to August 12, after having agreed a carriage deal with the UK public-service broadcaster.
