DAZN, the OTT service operated by digital sports media company Perform, has acquired rights in Italy to the Spanish LaLiga and French Ligue 1 club football competitions, along with adding a raft of other content.
Terms of the deals were not disclosed, but LaLiga and Ligue 1 rights were previously held by pay-television broadcaster Fox Sports Italia, which has now ceased operations, and pay-television broadcaster Mediaset Premium, respectively.
The DDay.it website added that DAZN has also secured further football content in the shape of the Africa Cup of Nations, Copa Libertadores and the English EFL Cup. DAZN has also added North America’s Major League Baseball and National Hockey League, as well as darts events from the PDC.
Last month, Perform confirmed the introduction of DAZN into Italy by acquiring rights for 114 matches per season from the top-tier Serie A covering the three seasons from 2018-19 to 2020-21. It then secured rights for Serie B, the second division of Italian football, across the same window.
