Subscription streaming service DAZN has added the Coupe de France to its football rights properties in German-speaking countries.
The three-season deal for the knockout club competition runs from 2019-20 to 2021-22 and covers Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
DAZN will commence its live coverage with the round-of-16 clash between Ligue 1 clubs Monaco and Saint-Étienne tonight (Tuesday).
German broadcaster Sport1 has shown the tournament in recent seasons. However, Sport1’s three-year contract to air at least 19 matches per season expired at the end of the 2018-19 season.
DAZN agreed the deal with the IMG agency, which distributes international rights to the Coupe de France on a global basis, with the exception of France, Spain, the Middle East and North Africa, sub-Saharan Africa, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Cambodia and Laos.
A minimum of 21 matches per season are produced for international broadcasters with six high-definition cameras.
DAZN last month picked up rights to the Uefa Champions League in Germany for the new cycle, from 2021-22 to 2023-24. DAZN acquired two packages of Champions League rights, the first-pick match on Wednesday evenings and the remaining live matches, aside from the first-pick Tuesday evening match acquired earlier by Amazon.
DAZN also acquired rights in Germany to the 2019 Fifa Club World Cup.
