DAZN, the OTT service operated by digital sports media company Perform, has confirmed it has secured rights to the Uefa Europa League club football competition in Germany and Austria.
The contract runs for the three seasons spanning 2018-19 to 2020-21. DAZN will show all 205 matches per season, 190 of which will be on an exclusive basis.
Fifteen games will be shared with a free-to-air partner in each nation. In August, commercial broadcaster Puls 4 struck a deal across the 2018-19 to 2020-21 seasons for exclusive free-to-air rights in Austria.
Champions League rights for the next cycle in Germany and Austria have already been acquired by pay-television broadcaster Sky Deutschland. Sky subsequently agreed a sublicensing agreement to share coverage of the Champions League in both territories with DAZN.
