German telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom has acquired the rights to Bundesliga Basketball club Bayern München’s games in the concluding stages of this season’s Eurocup competition.
The deal commenced with live coverage of Bayern’s 93-84 Round of 32 victory over French club JDA Dijon on Wednesday and is set to continue with the match against fellow Bundesliga team Brose Baskets Bamberg on January 14.
The games are being provided free-of-charge on the telco’s Telekom Basketball platform, with access offered to non-subscribers of the service.
In June, Deutsche Telekom agreed a four-year deal for the media rights to the Bundesliga, which it is exploiting via Telekom Basketball. The agreement, which includes both national and international rights, commenced from the 2014-15 season and runs through to the 2017-18 campaign.
