DirecTV secures World Baseball Classic rights in Latin America [UPDATED]

Pan-regional pay-television operator DirecTV has acquired non-exclusive rights in Latin America for the 2017 World Baseball Classic national team tournament.

The fourth edition of the WBC takes place from March 6-22, with games held in Japan, Mexico, South Korea and the United States.

DirecTV will provide 30 games from the tournament, including the final rounds, through its DirecTV Sports channel and its online streaming platform. Additional WBC-dedicated programming will also be aired throughout the tournament.

The Dominican Republic is the reigning champion having won the 2013 WBC, while Colombia will participate in the event for the first time.
