Media company Discovery Communications will retain exclusive rights to the 2018 winter Olympic Games in Spain after unveiling its coverage plans.
Discovery said its general entertainment channel, DMAX, will be the main hub of Games coverage from Pyeongchang, offering between six and seven hours of live action per day, focusing on Spanish athletes.
The Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2 channels of the pan-European sports broadcaster will focus on the best action from the Games and ice hockey, respectively. Discovery’s Eurosport Player digital service will provide blanket coverage of every event.
In addition, DMAX will show the opening and closing ceremonies from the Pyeongchang Games, which run from February 9-25.
Discovery has rights for the Olympic Games across the majority of European territories from 2018 to 2024.
