Discovery to follow Norway’s bid to reach Tokyo 2020 handball competition

The Norwegian arm of US media group Discovery has acquired rights to the men’s and women’s qualifying tournaments for the handball competitions at the 2020 summer Olympic Games.

The women’s qualifying tournament will be held from March 20-22 in Montenegro, while the men’s tournament will be played on April 17-19 in the Norwegian city of Trondheim.

Norway’s place in the men’s tournament was only confirmed at the weekend, following the finale to the 2020 European Championship.

Norway won its first ever European Championship medal on Saturday, beating Slovenia 28:20 in the third/fourth place match in Stockholm. However, only victory in the tournament would have guaranteed a place at Tokyo 2020, with Spain defending its title by defeating Croatia 22:20 on Sunday.
