The European Broadcasting Union consortium of free-to-air broadcasters has extended a rights deal with Fifa, football’s global governing body.
The deal will include the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia – the dress rehearsal event for the following year’s World Cup in the country – plus the 2015 Women’s World Cup in Canada and other Fifa events over the next two years.
Rights include the 2015 U-20 World Cup in New Zealand, U-17 World Cup in Chile and Beach Soccer World Cup in Portugal plus the 2016 Futsal World Cup in Colombia, U-17 Women’s World Cup in Jordan and U-20 Women's World Cup in a country that is yet to be announced.
The agreement covers 37 European countries and includes television, online, mobile and radio rights.
The countries covered by the deal are: Albania, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Iceland, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine.
