US multimedia entertainment studio Electus has acquired the international distribution rights for the Bellator MMA mixed martial arts organisation.
Founded in 2008 and based in California, Bellator is owned by US media company Viacom.
The Electus deal comes as Bellator changes its format to monthly event programming. These events will be supported by associated preview shows, fighter profiles and highlights packages on US pay-television channel Spike TV and the organisation’s official website Bellator.com.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Electus will market the Bellator rights through its global distribution arm Electus International.
Bellator is available in 100 million homes domestically through its agreement with Spike TV and has an estimated global reach of 500 million homes in 140 countries at present.
