International sports broadcaster Eleven Sports has broadened its reach in the United States through a content partnership with social network YouNow.
Under the deal, the length of which was not disclosed, YouNow’s new, blockchain-powered Rize app will showcase live content from Eleven Sports in the US.
Touted as the world’s first cryptocurrency-powered mobile video app, Rize is scheduled to launch in January.
The first event distributed by YouNow and Eleven was a Drone Champions League meet, which aired on YouNow yesterday (Sunday). Once Rize launches, content will begin to air on the new platform.
Danny Menken, group managing director for Eleven Sports, said: “We have recently proven our strategy to reach new audiences in innovative ways by live-streaming top sports action on social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter.
“Interactive communities such as YouNow create a wide-open field for immersive ways to serve up live sports – we’re bringing sport to the fan, and this partnership underscores that goal.”
