ESPN is finalising a new rights deal with the Mountain West US college sports conference, according to the US cable-television broadcaster’s news website.
The deal will run for seven years, from 2014-15 to 2019-20.
The exact financial details behind the agreement were not disclosed, but the report said that the new deal, combined with an existing seven-year contract with the CBS Sports Network division of US network CBS, would generate a total of about $116 million (€88 million) in rights fees, or $18 million per year.
Under the agreement, ESPN will broadcast up to 22 American football games – including all six of leading university Boise State’s home games – and 25 men’s basketball games per year.
