Pan-Asian sports broadcaster ESPN Star Sports has acquired rights for the Super Fight League mixed martial arts championship.
The deal will run for five years, from 2013-14 to 2017-18.
ESPN Star Sports will broadcast 23 of the Asian championship’s events per year on a fortnightly basis, starting on March 29.
“The broadcast tie-up with ESPN Star Sports will provide a major boost to our efforts to promote this property across South Asia,” the league’s founder chairman, Raj Kundra, said.
ESPN Software India chief operating officer Vijay Rajput added: “This acquisition enables us to expand our content in MMA fighting and we think this property will get a lot of traction with fight fans across the country.”
