Euroleague Basketball lands on Deutsche Telekom

German telecommunications Deutsche Telekom has acquired rights for the Euroleague Basketball club competition.

The agreement will run for the duration of the 2015-16 season.

The deal covers pay-television and free-to-air rights as well as internet and mobile rights plus public-viewing and sports-bar rights throughout Germany.

Deutsche Telekom will show all home games of German clubs in the Euroleague, which this season includes Brose Baskets Bamberg and Bayern Munich. Deutsche Telekom will also broadcast another Euroleague game during each round of the competition.

The rights will be exploited on the Entertain IPTV service and on PCs, tablets and smartphones.

“Euroleague basketball is one of the most attractive European leagues and is a perfect match with our existing offerings,” Henning Stiegenroth, the head of sports marketing at Telekom Deutschland, said. “It will make Telekom Basketball even more attractive on all platforms. With more than 80,000 subscribers in our first season, Telekom Basketball more than met our expectations. We intend to stay on this successful course and expand both the quality and service of our offering.”
