The German Football Association (DFB) has agreed a four-year extension to its rights contract with pan-European sports broadcaster Eurosport and has launched a tender process for domestic rights to its DFB-Pokal club competitions.
Eurosport has retained television and digital rights in Germany to the Under-21, Under-20 and Under-19 national teams from 2015-16 to 2018-19.
The new contract includes the qualifying campaigns for the 2017 and 2019 Uefa European Under-21 Championships, as well as the Under-19 team’s games leading in to the 2016 European Championship, which is being hosted in Baden-Württemberg.
Meanwhile, a tender process has been opened for the 2016-17 to 2018-19 seasons of the men’s and women’s DFB-Pokal competitions.
The tender for the German media rights will be handled by the Infront Sports & Media agency, with broadcasters asked to register interest by September 11 ahead of tender documents being issued from September 14.
