International sports broadcaster Eurosport has revealed plans to offer Spanish-language content for its Eurosport 2 television channel, while its new local channel in Denmark has launched.
The Rapid TV News website said Eurosport’s parent company Discovery Communications is dubbing all content for Eurosport 2 into Spanish, aiming to re-launch the channel’s brand with more local offerings in Spain.
“Our strategy here is to continue development of the Eurosport brand to become a reference in sports pay-TV content in Spain,” Fernando Jerez, general manager at Discovery Spain and Portugal, said. “Offering Spanish-language content in Eurosport 2 was an absolute priority for our company.”
Meanwhile, Eurosport Denmark launched yesterday (Wednesday). The local sports channel replaces Canal 8, a general sports channel that was acquired by Discovery from pan-Nordic pay-television broadcaster C More in Denmark.
Eurosport Denmark will show 2,400 hours of live sports coverage every year, including Danish Superliga and German Bundesliga football and ATP men’s and WTA women’s tennis.
