Pan-European sports broadcaster Eurosport has acquired exclusive television and digital media rights in Portugal to the Formula One motor-racing world championship.
The deal will run for three seasons, from 2016 through to 2018.
The agreement will cover the live broadcast of all races as well as qualifying and practice sessions.
Peter Hutton, chief executive of Eurosport, said: “F1 is one of the biggest sporting brands and the biggest event in the motorsport calendar. Securing these exclusive rights in Portugal further demonstrates our strategy to acquire key properties on a local as well as a pan-regional level, along with our commitment to put the greatest events, and capture the best sporting moments, on Eurosport.”
Eurosport will replace pay-television broadcaster Sport TV as F1’s Portuguese rights-holder.
