Eurosport secures Davis Cup finals rights in UK and Nordics

International sports broadcaster Eurosport has agreed a two-year deal with the International Tennis Federation for rights to the Davis Cup finals in six of its markets.

The contract covers television and digital rights to the 2019 and 2020 finals in the UK, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Iceland.

This year’s finals will take place at Madrid’s La Caja Magica from November 18-24 and represent a revamping of the men’s national team tournament under a masterplan devised by the ITF and commercial partner Kosmos.

Fans watching on Eurosport’s platforms will be offered new camera angles and augmented reality to enhance the viewing experience.

Last month, Eurosport agreed multi-year deals to screen the men’s ATP Tour in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia, having already reached similar agreements over the past 12 months in France, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Russia.

Elsewhere in Europe, a Davis Cup Finals rights agreement was announced in France two months ago as TF1, the free-to-air commercial broadcaster, acquired the contract. Telecoms group Telefónica acquired exclusive rights in Spain and will air the tournament on its Movistar #Vamos channel.
