Sports broadcaster Eurosport has acquired the pan-European rights, excluding the UK market, to the inaugural season of the Indian Super League football competition.
Eurosport will broadcast 16 games live during the ISL’s debut season, beginning with the opening match on October 12 and ending with the final on December 20 on its Eurosport 2 channel.
The league is co-promoted by IMG Reliance, the joint venture between the IMG agency and Indian conglomerate Reliance Industries, and pay-television broadcaster Star India and includes eight franchises with 22 players in each squad.
Atletico de Kolkata’s match against Mumbai City FC will be Eurosport’s opening ISL game on October 12.
Former Spain international Luis Garcia has signed as Atletico’s marquee player, while former French and Swedish internationals, Nicolas Anelka (pictured) and Freddie Ljungberg, will play for Mumbai.
