Eurovision, the television producer operated by the European Broadcasting Union, and Russian state broadcaster VGTRK have agreed a deal with the International Association of Athletics Federations to host broadcast the 2013 World Athletics Championships in Moscow.
Eurovision subsidiary Eurovision Production Coordination and VGTRK will carry out all host broadcast responsibilities, including producing broadcast feeds of the event and a daily highlights programme.
Stefan Kuerten, Eurovision’s director of sports and business said: “This agreement with the IAAF strengthens Eurovision’s position as the production partner of choice for the world’s elite sports federations. Eurovision and the IAAF have become close partners again to distribute the media rights from 2014 onwards, and it is exciting to be able to develop this relationship further by taking on the production of the IAAF World Athletics Championships in Moscow.”
