The MP & Silva agency is understood to have won the media rights in the Netherlands for the English Premier League in 2013-14 to 2015-16.
The agency beat rival offers from the Netherlands’ two big pay-television sports broadcasters, Sport1 and Eredivisie Live.
The league is understood to have earned a significant increase in its rights fee in the Netherlands in the new deal. The rights are currently held by Sport1, in a deal covering 2010-11 to 2012-13.
It is the second Premier League rights deal in two days for MP & Silva. It was announced yesterday as the winner of the rights in the Middle East in 2013-16.
Eredivisie Live is 51-per-cent owned by News Corporation’s Fox International Channels. Fox acquired its stake last August. The clubs of the Dutch football league, the Eredivisie, are the other major owners, with 35 per cent of the broadcaster.
Sport1 is owned by Chellomedia, the European content division of international cable-television group Liberty Global.
