LaLiga has struck a deal for Facebook to show Spanish top-tier football matches in the Indian subcontinent.
The agreement will run for three seasons, from 2018-19 to 2020-21.
All 380 matches per season will be on offer for free to viewers in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. The coverage will be available live and on demand via multiple devices.
Every match will be available on the official LaLiga Facebook page, as well as individual club pages.
In addition to the live matches, support programming – including a full range of weekly preview shows and highlights – will be on offer.
The deal represents LaLiga’s first rights deal with a social media platform.
The action will be shown without advertisements, according to Facebook’s director of global live sports, Peter Hutton.
Sony Pictures Network was the previous rights-holder in the region, covering LaLiga for four seasons through to the end of the 2017-18 campaign.
TV Sports Markets first reported LaLiga’s deal with Facebook on July 20.
