Flow, the Caribbean pay-television platform owned by telecommunications company Cable & Wireless, has signed a partnership with the North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletics Association (NACAC) to be the exclusive broadcast partner and sponsor of the CARIFTA Games.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it will commence from this year’s edition of the annual athletics competition founded by the Caribbean Free Trade Association, which acts as a showcase for the latest talent emerging from the region.
The 2016 CARIFTA Games will be held in Grenada from March 26-28. The Games will be shown in 10 Flow markets around the Caribbean on the recently launched Flow Sports channel, making it the first time that the Games will be broadcast live in high definition across the region.
Denise Williams, C&W’s senior vice-president of communications, said: “Sponsoring and broadcasting these Games is just another way for us to further demonstrate our support for up-and-coming athletes across the region, as well as solidify Flow Sports’ commitment to become the home of sports in the Caribbean.”
Flow will also serve as title sponsor of the event and holds a brand ambassador partnership with Grenadian sprint star Kirani James (pictured), who won multiple medals across the 2007 to 2009 editions of the CARIFTA Games.
