Formula E to deliver on-board camera service

Technology developer 360 Racing has agreed a deal to produce a new mobile application that will allow fans of the Formula E Championship to access live on-board camera feeds of the new electric motor-racing series, which is operated by the FIA, motorsport’s global governing body.

The application will enable fans to access features such as news, results and standings as well as various videos and information.

Features to be added later in the year include 360 degree on-board cameras, live timing and race telemetry. The camera system will be based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset.

Fans can also use the app to make five votes for Formula E’s FanBoost, which allows supporters to vote for their favourite driver to receive a speed burst during the race.

The application is available free-of-charge on all smartphone and tablet devices.

Alejandro Agag, chief executive officer at Formula E, added: “Technology lies at the heart of the FIA Formula E Championship as does fan interactivity and this new app will allow our fans to get up close to the action and to feel a part of the experience whether at the track, watching at home or even on the move.”
