Pay-television broadcaster Fox Sports will remain the exclusive home of English Premier League football in Australia in the next rights cycle, after signing a three-year rights extension for the 2013-14 to 2015-16 seasons.
Fox will continue its coverage of all 380 league matches per season in the next cycle. The deal was exclusively reported by the TV Sports Markets newsletter last Friday.
The Premier League agreement comes after Fox last week agreed a deal with Football Federation Australia covering the four years from 2013-14 to 2016-17. That contract will see Fox continue its live coverage of all Australia internationals and every match of the country’s top club league, the A-League.
“It’s been a huge week for football on Fox Sports,” Fox Sports chief executive Patrick Delany said. “With the announcement of two major broadcast deals fans around the country are sure to be buzzing with excitement at what the next four years holds for them.”
The new agreement will take Fox to 20 years as the Australian television broadcaster of the league, having first screened matches in 1997.
