The Fox Sports division of US network Fox has agreed a multi-year rights deal to show Baylor University’s sports events.
The agreement includes rights to men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, softball, football and volleyball and other Olympic sports. Fox Sports will also show one Baylor American football game per year.
The length of the deal, which will start in the 2013-14 academic year, has not been disclosed.
Fox Sports will exploit the rights on regional cable-television channels Fox Sports Southwest and Fox Sports Southwest Plus as well as national cable-television channel Fox College Sports. Digital rights are included in the deal.
The agreement will complement Fox Sports’ separate deal with the Big 12 conference – of which Texas-based Baylor is a member. The Big 12 deal will run for 13 years, from 2012-13 to 2014-15.
“We’re excited to continue our relationship with Baylor and expand our partnership with the university even deeper,” Fox Sports Southwest senior vice-president and general manager, Jon Heidtke, said. “This agreement is the perfect complement to our new Fox Sports Media Group deal with the Big 12 and fits in nicely with our mission statement to be the preeminent regional sports network in the Southwest.”
