The Fox Sports Media Group arm of media conglomerate News Corporation will launch a second national cable-television sports channel in the US in August, according to the Los Angeles Times newspaper.
The new channel will reportedly replace Fox-owned cable-television channel Fuel TV, which currently shows mixed martial arts series the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Fox confirmed in March that Fox Sports 1 would launch on August 17, replacing motorsport cable-television channel Speed. At the time, Fox played down speculation that it had plans for a second national sports channel.
The newspaper, citing people familiar with the plan, said that Fox Sports 2 would “launch around the same time and perhaps even the same day” as Fox Sports 1.
