Media consultancy HBA Media has extended its deal to distribute international media rights to the Pegasus World Cup Invitational, the world’s richest horse race.
The deal with Pegasus World Cup organiser, the Stronach Group, is for the second running of the event, which will be held on January 27 at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida.
Henry Birtles, managing director of HBA Media, said: “Last year, we distributed the race worldwide to over 120 territories, across a host of networks and in 2018 we hope to bring the race to an even wider audience.”
The Pegasus World Cup Invitational is open to 12 domestic and international owners who will put in $1m (€839,000) each for a spot in the starting gate. An additional $4m will be contributed by the Stronach Group, raising its inaugural $12m purse to $16m in 2018.
In 2017, Arrogate, the current winner of the Longines World’s Best Racehorse rankings, claimed the largest share of the $12m purse and became the Pegasus World Cup Invitational’s first winner.
