US pay-television broadcaster HBO has announced that Ken Hershman has resigned as president of its HBO Sports division.
Hershman was appointed president of HBO Sports in January 2012 after nearly 20 years as executive vice-president and general manager of Showtime Sports at rival pay-television broadcaster Showtime Networks.
In his time as president, Hershman has overseen HBO’s boxing franchise and its pay-per-view division. He also decided which boxers the network would back and played a key role in moving fighters to the HBO pay-per-view platform.
Hershman will remain as HBO Sports president and continue to work with HBO programming president Mike Lombardo until the end of the year.
"I am particularly proud of what I accomplished and believe now is the perfect time to hand over the reins to someone new," Hershman said.
