The International Cricket Council has released an invitation to tender for live cinema screening rights to its 2019 Cricket World Cup.
The ICC said “established cinema chains, individual cineplexes and theatres” as well as media rights agencies could bid for regional or worldwide rights.
This tender process is being handled by the ICC Business Corporation (IBC). The IBC is a subsidiary of the ICC and owns all media rights to ICC events.
The tender was released on August 27. There is a clarification period from August 27 to September 17. Bids are due by September 21. Proposals will then be reviewed from September 24 to October 4.
Global ICC media rights (excluding cinema rights) are held by media company 21st Century Fox, which owns pay-television broadcaster Star India, under an eight-year deal from 2015-16 to 2022-23.
