Spanish telco Imagenio, owned by Telefónica, agreed a carriage deal with pay-television broadcaster Prisa TV for Uefa Champions League football coverage from next season.
The agreement follows an auction process in which all Spanish pay-television operators were invited to bid for access to Prisa’s newly-created Champions League channel for the 2012-13 season.
The new channel will launch on both Prisa’s Digital Plus service and Telefónica’s Imagenio platform on August 16. It will broadcast 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
Prisa acquired the pay-television rights to the Champions League in a three-year deal, from 2012-13 to 2014-15, early last year.
