The IMG agency has acquired a minority stake in video technology company LiveClips, which delivers real-time highlights of sporting events to mobile devices.
IMG said that its undisclosed investment would allow LiveClips to pursue similar partnerships with sports broadcasters, rights-holders and licensees.
“Through our relationship with IMG, we have been provided a unique opportunity to capitalise on the explosive global demand for video content on smartphones, tablets, smart televisions and mobile computing devices,” LiveClips chairman and chief executive Lewis Bakes said.
Tyler Nevius, IMG’s vice-president of strategic planning and financial operations, added: “Today’s global sports fans monitor multiple teams, games and players and watch content on their television, smartphone and tablet, sometimes all at once. There is tremendous demand for the type of customised real time video experiences LiveClips enables us to provide to our customers.”
