The Infront Sport & Media agency has reached a deal for Mir TV to broadcast the 2014 Men’s Ice Hockey World Championship in six markets of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
The International Ice Hockey Federation showpiece gets under way in Minsk, Belarus today. Infront did not specify the six territories included in the Mir TV deal, but said they include Georgia and Armenia.
As the exclusive media and marketing partner to the IIHF, Infront has ensured the tournament will air in 115 countries and territories.
In territories where there are no conflicting media rights agreements in place, Infront will offer an online steaming service fully integrated into the IIHF’s official website.
Fans can subscribe to live and on-demand coverage of the competition with a tournament pass, costing €34.90 ($48.17) or the alternatives of an individual team or play-off pass – both of which cost €19.90.
Sweden is the reigning champion of the World Championships having co-hosted last year’s competition with Finland.
