The Infront Sports & Media agency has announced that it has secured record broadcast reach for the International Cycling Union’s (UCI) 2014 Road World Championships.
Infront said that the UCI’s flagship event, which started yesterday and will run until September 28, will be shown in 158 territories, with the agency having added new broadcasters in Asia and Europe. More than 32 media-rights licensees will cover the event, the highest number ever for the event.
New media-rights partners include pay-television broadcasters Sony Sport in India, Astro in Malaysia, and public-service broadcaster NHK in Japan. Pay-television broadcaster Fox Sports Asia will also show live coverage across 18 Asian territories.
In Europe, Portuguese public-service broadcaster RTP has acquired rights, while worldwide news access has also been agreed with digital media companies SNTV and Perform.
