The Infront Sports & Media agency has extended a rights distribution deal for all Nordic Ski World Cup and national skiing events that take place in Finland.
The agreement, covering domestic and international rights, will run for five years, from 2013-14 to 2017-18.
The rights comprise a total of seven ski jumping, cross-country and Nordic combined World Cup events per season, as well as the annual Finnish Nordic Ski Championships and the Suomen Cup national skiing event.
The agency struck the deal with the Finnish Ski Association national governing body, which organises the national events and also the World Cup events on behalf of sanctioning global governing body the International Ski Federation.
Infront will also produce the coverage for all of the events.
“After intensive negotiations throughout the past months, we have now reached a historic agreement – confiding the media rights for our prestigious Nordic events to the most experienced company in the field of international skiing,” Finnish Ski Association president Matti Sundberg said. “Infront is in a position to boost our Nordic events in a sustainable way and on a global scale.”
Infront’s executive director of winter sports, Bruno Marty, added: “With the media rights to the Finnish events complementing our portfolio, we are now able to offer almost the entire FIS Alpine and Nordic World Cup series on a collective basis – to the benefit of not only the broadcasters, but also the individual events, each reaching maximum exposure.”
