LaLiga, the governing body of the top two divisions of Spanish football, has opened up its LaLiga StayAtHome content to international audiences as it looks to keep fans engaged in the absence of live sport.
All of LaLiga’s international broadcast rights-holders will be able to air the content on their channels. The content will also be covered by the 24-hour LaLigaTV channel, which is available in several countries around the world through tie-ups with various rights-holders.
Three new programmes will air from this weekend as part of the LaLiga StayAtHome initiative. A ‘LaLiga StayAtHome’ programme will run for 30 minutes and air weekly, providing an insight into how footballers are living during lockdown and offering fitness routines and dietary tips, as well as players’ hobbies and interests.
A LaLiga Nations programme will run over the course of 10 weekly episodes. It will highlight the value of different nationalities that have graced LaLiga over the years. LaLiga Clubs will be a fortnightly segment, explaining the connection between Spanish cities, their clubs and the local population.
Melcior Soler, director of LaLiga’s audiovisual department, said: “LaLiga’s international broadcasters are looking to offer football fans different forms of entertainment during this quarantine period. Through our work together with the clubs and the players, fans will be able to get closer to their idols despite the ongoing postponement of the competition.”
