Spanish agency Mediapro will launch its new Formula One channel in Latin America on March 1.
F1 Latin America will be available via pay-television platforms throughout the region, with the exception of Brazil.
Mediapro in March 2014 acquired rights to the motor racing championship across Central and Latin America and the Caribbean. The exclusive deal, which excluded Brazil, runs for five years, from 2015 to 2019.
Mediapro said F1 Latin America will feature other motorsport content and will provide 20 hours of live broadcasts every weekend, including Formula One, GP2 and GP3 grand prix events. The channel will also feature the best races from Formula One’s archive.
The new channel, produced by Mediapro, will give special coverage to Latin American drivers such as Pastor Maldonado (pictured), Sergio Pérez, Esteban Gutiérrez and Julián Leal. It will be available via multiple devices utilising a dedicated second screen app.
The 2015 F1 season commences with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on March 15.
