Leading Polish Ekstraklasa club Lech Poznan is set to be provided with the country’s first television channel dedicated to a football team, through a partnership with telecommunications company Inea.
Lech currently operates an online television channel, but has announced that LechTV will be launched within the next three months.
LechTV will be broadcast as a digital channel in Inea’s standard cable television package. Lech said the platform will be modelled along the same lines as official television channels operated by clubs in Western Europe.
Tomasz Zmyślny, director general of Inea, said: “The purpose of this project is to extend the offering for fans of Lech. We are happy to gain access to exclusive content that will bring the club and its players a wide audience.”
Inea is a major sponsor of Lech Poznan and has agreed a separate five-year commercial deal with the club. The company last month sealed a five-year deal, from 2013-14 to 2017-18, to assume the naming rights to its stadium.
