Stéphane Lefray, head of media rights sales at Team Marketing, has left the Luzern-based agency that markets the broadcast, sponsorship and licensing rights to Uefa club competitions.
Lefray, who joined Team just over seven years ago from French pay-television broadcaster Canal Plus, finished up his work at Team at the start of this week and is set to take on a “new challenge”.
The media rights department at Team remains led by Tom Höher, executive director of media rights sales.
Having left his role as acquisitions and sales manager at Canal Plus at the start of 2013, Lefray moved to Switzerland to take up a position as a media rights sales manager at Team. He was subsequently promoted to a senior sales manager in 2016 and then head of media rights sales two years ago.
Before joining Canal Plus in 2008, he was a sales manager at IFAP Sports, the Paris-based agency that made its name through its work with the Confederation of African Football.
Team is in the midst of its 2021-24 international sales cycle for the Uefa Champions League, Uefa Europa League and new Uefa Europa Conference League. Most recently, the agency and Uefa wrapped up the broadcast rights sales in the Nordics.
A sales process was also launched in Spain in early February with bidders handed a first-round bid deadline of March 10. Spanish telecoms operator Telefónica, which owns the pay-television broadcaster Movistar Plus, emerged victorious by securing the exclusive multi-platform rights.
