Meo, the Portuguese pay-television operator owned by telecommunications company Altice, has acquired rights for the home matches of the country’s Primeira Liga top-tier football club Rio Ave.
The deal, which also includes sponsorship rights, will run for 10 seasons, from 2018-19 to 2027-28.
Rio Ave listened to “multiple proposals” before opting for Meo, which was “the most favourable offer,” the club said. Rio Ave added that confidentiality clauses would prevent the club from disclosing further details.
Last week, Meo acquired rights to the Segunda Liga, the second tier of club football in the country, for three seasons, from 2016-17 to 2018-19.
