GolTV picks up rights to Portugal’s Primeira Liga

US pay-television channel GolTV has acquired rights to the Primeira Liga, the top division of club football in Portugal.

The length of the multi-year deal was not disclosed, but GolTV confirmed it will begin to broadcast live coverage of matches from the start of the 2017-18 season.

GolTV said it will show approximately 150 matches per season, including those involving leading clubs Benfica, Porto and Sporting. Coverage will be available in English and Spanish.

GolTV has been broadcasting live coverage of Benfica matches to audiences in the US since 2014.
