This past weekend not only marked the conclusion of the 2022 Major League Soccer regular season but it also meant the final local television broadcasts as the league transitions to its 10-year global rights deal with Apple beginning next season.
Local broadcast crews around the league honored the occasion with broadcasters making mentions of the moment as they signed off while others had more fan-interactive festivities. DC United’s long-time play-by-play broadcaster Dave Johnson had a pitch-side pregame show where fans were able to speak with him in person after 27 years of calling games for the team.
