Major League Soccer has secured a landmark, 10-year global rights deal with tech giant Apple worth at least $2.5bn (€2.4bn) over the course of the agreement, or $250m a year, according to industry sources and published reports, and potentially more when also factoring in revenue-sharing components.
As part of the partnership running from 2023 to 2032, more than 900 MLS games will be made available on a new subscription streaming service to be housed within the Apple TV+ app throughout the United States and Canada, as well as around the world, without any local domestic broadcast restrictions.
