Showtime will not be able to provide coverage of mixed martial arts again until 2014, according to the US pay-per-view broadcaster’s executive vice-president Stephen Espinoza.
“We are continuing to evaluate MMA opportunities,” Espinosa told MMA Fighting. “But given our very busy programming slate for the rest of 2013, any new MMA programming would have to debut in 2014.”
The most recent MMA programming to feature on Showtime was coverage of an event organised by the Strikeforce promotional company in January.
The broadcaster has shown MMA events since 2007.
