Jose Mourinho, manager of English Premier League football club Chelsea, has agreed a three-year deal to serve as an ambassador for UK pay-television broadcaster BT Sport.
Mourinho will feature in BT Sport’s marketing drive ahead of the 2014-15 football season, while also making football programmes and featuring as an expert analyst for the broadcaster.
The former Real Madrid, Inter Milan and FC Porto boss joins Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge, Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale and former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand in becoming a BT Sport ambassador.
Grant Best, senior channel executive producer at BT Sport, said: “Jose Mourinho is one of the greatest managers of all time. He is a double Uefa Champions League winner, has won seven domestic league titles including the Premier League, which he has won twice, as well as numerous domestic cup competitions including the FA Cup.
“Jose is well known for his sense of humour, strong views and unique character and we will showcase this along with his expert insight into our coverage of the Barclays Premier League, European leagues and competitions.”
BT Sport launched for the 2013-14 football season, with live English Premier League football serving as its flagship property. In November 2013, it secured the exclusive live rights to the Uefa Champions League and Europa League competitions for three years in the UK from 2015-16 to 2017-18.
