The MP & Silva agency has curtailed its deal to distribute the domestic and global media rights for the Chinese Professional Baseball League, the top division in Chinese Taipei.
The agency’s six-year deal was due to run from 2014 to 2019.
The agency signed up as the league’s exclusive adviser for media rights sales across all platforms and its partner for the production of games in January, two months before the start of the 2014 campaign.
According to Channel News Asia, MP & Silva said that the league had violated the terms of its deal with the agency, but did not elaborate on the alleged violations.
The league responded to the news by saying that coverage of games would continue to be shown on pay-television broadcaster Sportcast, digital media content distributor Elta and the league-owned CPBL TV platforms.
The league added: “The CPBL did not do anything that violates its agreement with MP and Silva.”
