Modern Times Group (MTG), the multi-territory commercial and pay-television broadcaster, and pan-Nordic basic-tier and pay-television broadcaster SBS Discovery Media, have acquired rights for the Danish Superligaen, the top division of football in the country.
The agreements will run for six years, from 2015-16 to 2020-21, and cover all media platforms.
MTG has acquired live rights to the first, third, fourth and sixth pick matches in all 33 rounds of the Superligaen season – a total of 792 live games under the duration of the agreement. Included are the exclusive rights to the second-tier NordicBet Liga and all the rounds from the national DBU Pokalen cup competition.
SBS Discovery has acquired live rights to the second and fifth pick matches in every round of the Superligaen.
The rights were acquired from Divisionsforeningen, which operates the Danish league system.
MTG shows football coverage on its three free-to-air channels – TV3, TV3+ and TV3 PULS – plus the TV3 Sport1 and TV3 Sport2 pay-television channels and the online subscription service Viaplay.
